Not a bad deal at all for a UFA contract. I expect him to have several very solid years.

He'll just change his take to how not going after Duchene was the smartest move the Yotes have ever made. I'm sure he's consulting on the Yotes parade route through the desert next summer as we speak.

8 Mil against the cap Paul, that's the only number that matters. Glad that Poile managed to get the deal done at that price. If he'd signed for 10mil or more like previously rumored, I wouldn't have been too happy with this signing. I'm curious to see what Poile does from here on the trade front. I doubt he's fool enough to think Duchene is the answer to all the Preds issues. Trading Subban just to free up space to sign Duchene feels more a lateral move than a drastic improvement.

Not comparable. As the others posted before me, Turris was an absolute train wreck this season. I'd gladly trade you Turris for Steen right now.

This is one of the more reasonable UFA contracts in years. Especially when you compare it to the Hayes contract

That is correct. Poile has used that fact quite a bit with signing some of the teams core players to relatively cap friendly contracts.
